Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Calca – Lares – Huacawasi
We pick you up from your hotel at 4:00 a.m. to begin your adventure together with the guide. After a 4-hour trip, you will arrive at the medicinal thermal baths of Lares (3200m/10496ft). On the way you will pass through the fertile lands of the Sacred Valley: Calca (2940m/8167ft) and the communities of Totora and Maucaupata.
In Lares, you will enjoy the thermal baths, have lunch, then meet the muleteers to begin the trek to Huacawasi where you will have dinner and spend the night.
Day 2: Huacawasi – Ipsaycocha – Patacancha
After breakfast, you will begin the walk to the second camp. The day begins early, ascending by the Abra de Ipsaycocha. Along the way you will encounter different native communities with their own customs and textiles.
You will arrive at the lagoon of Ipsaycocha where you will have lunch.
After a good rest you will continue to Patacancha where you will spend the second night.
Day 3: Patacancha – Willoq – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
After an energizing breakfast, you will continue the trek towards the small town of Willoq, with its original customs. Enroute you will visit the archaeological remains of Qochapata, Pumamarca and the Inca terraces. At approximately 2:00 pm, you will arrive at Ollantaytambo for lunch. Ollantaytambo is an old Inca town that is considered a living museum.
After lunch, the trip continues to Aguas Calientes. You will spend the night in Aguas Calientes in a hotel. Upon arrival at Aguas Calientes, your Machu Picchu guide will be waiting for you at the train station to escort you to the hotel and coordinate the visit to Machu Picchu the following morning.
Day 4: Visit Machu Picchu
After having breakfast (included in your hotel), you will board a bus that will take you to the middle of the mountain on which the citadel of Machu Picchu is located. Upon arrival, you will enter with the presentation of your ticket and your passport. You will tour the citadel with your guide for approximately 2.5 hours.
After the tour, there is the optional ascent to Huayna Picchu mountain or to the top of Machu Picchu. You must make reservations well in advance for these optional tours which provide extraordinary views of the surroundings.
After the visit to Machu Picchu, you will descend in a bus to the town of Aguas Calientes where you will have time to have lunch and take the train back to Cusco. The
return to Cusco will be by train to Ollantaytambo and then in a private
transport to your hotel in Cusco. You will take the train at 2:30 or 4:20 pm, depending on availability.
In the final station we will be waiting for you to provide transportation to your hotel in Cusco.

Ascend the mountain of Huayna Picchu:
You must make the reservation 7 months in advance. Huayna Picchu is the mountain next to Machu Picchu. It is quite popular because of the extraordinary views and requires moderate physical effort. This is a 2-hour trip.
Quotas are limited and run out quickly.

Ascend to the top of Machu Picchu:
From the top you have an extraordinary view of the environment. The ascent is quite strenuous (It takes 4 hours between going and returning from Machu Picchu).
