Embark on an unforgettable adventure through Peru’s most iconic destinations on our Perú Extraordinario 9 dÃas 8 noches tour. From the vibrant city of Lima to the mystical Machu Picchu, and the sacred lands of Cusco and the Sacred Valley, this tour offers an immersive experience into Peru’s rich cultural heritage and breathtaking landscapes.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Lima and Transfer to Hotel
- Airport pick-up and transfer to hotel: Upon your arrival in Lima, we will meet you at the airport holding a sign with your name. From there, we will transfer you comfortably to your hotel in the Miraflores district.
- Free afternoon: You’ll have the rest of the afternoon free to relax or explore the area at your own pace. You can stroll along the Miraflores boardwalk or visit a Peruvian restaurant. Contact us for recommendations!
- Overnight in Lima
Day 2: Transfer to Ica – Ballestas Islands & Huacachina Oasis
- Transfer to Paracas: We will pick you up from your hotel between 4:30 am and 4:50 am to begin the journey. We will arrive in Paracas at approximately 10:00 am and take a boat tour of the Ballestas Islands, located in the Pacific Ocean. During the ride, you will observe local wildlife, including sea lions, penguins, and various seabirds.
- Vineyard visit in Ica: Afterward, we will head to Ica to visit a local vineyard, where you will enjoy a tasting of traditional Peruvian liquors. You’ll also have time for lunch before continuing to the Ica desert.
- Desert adventure: Experience thrilling activities such as a dune buggy ride and sandboarding in the desert, followed by a visit to the Huacachina Oasis, a stunning lagoon surrounded by dunes.
- Return to Lima: After an exciting day, we will return to Lima, arriving at approximately 10:00 pm.
- Overnight in Lima
Day 3: Flight from Lima to Cusco & Free Afternoon
- Transfer to Lima Airport & Flight to Cusco: Three hours before your flight, we will pick you up and transfer you to the airport. The flight to Cusco takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- Airport pick-up and transfer to hotel: Upon arrival in Cusco, we will meet you at the airport with a sign bearing your name and transfer you to your hotel.
- Free afternoon for rest and acclimatization: You will have the afternoon free to acclimate to Cusco’s altitude (3,300 m / 10,826 ft) and explore the historic center of the city at your own pace.
- Overnight in Cusco
Day 4: Sacred Valley Tour and Train Connection to Machu Picchu
- Pick-up and transfer: We will pick you up at your hotel between 7:30 am and 7:45 am for a spectacular tour of the Sacred Valley. Along the way, the guide will share historical and geographical insights about the region.
- Stops and guided visits: Visit the archaeological sites of Pisac and Ollantaytambo, where you can admire the artistic and architectural achievements of the Incas.
- Train connection to Machu Picchu: After visiting Ollantaytambo, take the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town).
- Train journey to Aguas Calientes: The train ride takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes. Upon arrival, our staff will accompany you to your hotel.
- Briefing with guide: In the evening, your Machu Picchu guide will meet with you at your hotel to go over details for the next day.
- Overnight in Aguas Calientes
Day 5: Machu Picchu Tour and Return to Cusco
- Breakfast and ascent to Machu Picchu: Start your day with breakfast at your hotel. Between 5:30 and 6:30 am—depending on your scheduled entry time—you’ll board the bus to the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu.
- Guided tour of Machu Picchu Sanctuary: Enjoy a guided tour of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, exploring this iconic Inca site.
- Descent to Aguas Calientes: After the tour, take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have free time for lunch and to explore the town.
- Return to Cusco: Depending on your train ticket (usually between 2:30 pm and 4:30 pm), you’ll board the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, a bus will transfer you back to Cusco, arriving between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm.
- Overnight in Cusco
Day 6: Choose your adventure: Rainbow Mountain or Humantay Lagoon Hike
Option 1: Rainbow Mountain
- Hotel pick-up and transport: Early in the morning (between 4:20 am and 4:50 am), we will pick you up at your hotel to begin the drive to Vinicunca base. We’ll stop for about 40 minutes in Cusipata for breakfast. It can be cold at the base, so warm clothing is recommended.
- Start of the hike: The ascent hike takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. It requires considerable physical effort, so a good fitness level is advisable. A guide will accompany you to provide information along the way. If needed, you can rent a horse from local residents (cash payment; not included in the package).
- Arrival at the summit & return: At the summit, located at 5,036 meters (16,522 ft) above sea level, you’ll take in spectacular views. Then, hike back down to the base.
- Lunch and return to Cusco: After the hike, we’ll return to the village of Cusipata for lunch (about 1 hour), then continue the journey back to Cusco.
Option 2: Humantay Lagoon
- Hotel pick-up, breakfast, and transport to the trailhead: We will pick you up between 4:30 am and 5:00 am for a two-hour drive to Mollepata, where we’ll stop for breakfast. From there, continue to Soraypampa, the starting point of the hike.
- Ascent to the lagoon: The hike to Humantay Lagoon takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. This trail is physically demanding, so make sure you’re prepared. Temperatures are low at the start, so bring warm clothing and trekking shoes. A guide will accompany you for the journey, and if needed, you can rent a horse from local residents (cash payment; not included in the package).
- Arrival at Humantay Lagoon: At the top, enjoy time to rest, admire the turquoise lagoon, and take photos. The lagoon reflects the stunning snow-capped mountain, part of the Vilcabamba Range in the Andes.
- Descent, lunch, and return to Cusco: Hike back down to the base for lunch and then take the bus back to Cusco, arriving around 6:00 pm.
Day 7: Free Morning in Cusco & City Tour
- Free morning: You’ll have the morning free to explore Cusco, shop for souvenirs, or visit a local restaurant. At 1:30 p.m., we will pick you up from your hotel for the afternoon tour.
- Cusco City Tour: Visit Q’oricancha (Temple of the Sun) and then explore the archaeological sites of Sacsayhuamán, Q’enqo, Pucapucara, and Tambomachay.
- Pisco Sour preparation class: The tour ends around 6:30 p.m. in the historic center. Afterwards, you will participate in a Pisco Sour preparation class, where you will learn how to make Peru’s iconic cocktail.
- Overnight in Cusco
Day 8: Flight to Lima & Lima City Tour
- Transfer to Cusco Airport: In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and take you to the airport, where you will board your flight to Lima.
- Flight to Lima: Upon arrival, we will meet you at Lima’s airport holding a sign with your name and transfer you to your hotel in Miraflores.
- Lima City Tour: In the afternoon, around 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., your Lima City Tour will begin. This tour provides a glimpse into Peru’s capital, showcasing both its modern and colonial areas. You will visit the Miraflores district with its iconic Parque del Amor (Love Park), enjoy a panoramic view of the coastline along the Pacific Ocean, and see Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Inca archaeological site. The tour also includes exploring Lima’s historic center, featuring Plaza San MartÃn, Plaza de Armas (Main Square), and the San Francisco Museum.
Day 9: Transfer to Lima Airport – End of Trip
- Pick-up from hotel and airport transfer: After enjoying this wonderful experience in Peru, we will pick you up from your hotel at the appropriate time, approximately 4 hours before your departure flight. The transfer to the airport takes about 50 minutes.
